Nothing creates a look of permanence better than a beautiful stone retaining wall. At Yarrabee, we provide a variety of retaining wall stones that are suitable for this purpose. We can also supply easy to assemble gabion baskets that, when filled with the stone of your choice, provide a simple and economical option.
There are three different methods that retaining wall builders can choose between. It is important to note that all forms require proper drainage systems to be in place behind the wall.
Stone Wall Cladding: A structural wall is built (usually from concrete/ masonry blocks), which the stone is then stuck onto. Most retaining wall stone cladding used in this method are about 10 - 30mm thick and are simply glued onto the blockwork using an adhesive.
Dry Stone Walling: A structural wall is built (usually from concrete/ masonry blocks) in front of which a second wall is built using structural stone pieces. The front wall is secured to the masonry block using brick ties, so that they support each other.
Gabion Basket Retaining Walls: Crushed rock or concrete is laid to create a footing to ensure that a stable and flat base is achieved. Our easy to assemble baskets are then placed on top and filled with Castlemaine stone (or whatever product you desire).
